v0.1.277Sidebar views

Thetmux* workflow
for parallel agents.

* Also some support for WezTerm, kitty and Zellij.

Give every task its own git worktree and tmux window. See which agents are working or waiting on you, and merge finished work with one command.

Install with
brew install raine/workmux/workmux
Same tmux you already use. workmux gives each agent its own worktree and window, and keeps track of all of them in the sidebar.
It's become my daily driver - the perfect level of abstraction over tmux + git, without getting in the way or obscuring the underlying tooling.

How it works

Ten commands become two.

By hand

$ git worktree add ../myapp__worktrees/fix-login -b fix-login
$ cp .env ../myapp__worktrees/fix-login/
$ cd ../myapp__worktrees/fix-login
$ tmux new-window -n fix-login
$ tmux split-window -h "pnpm install && pnpm run dev"
$ claude "Fix the login redirect"
# later
$ git checkout main && git merge fix-login
$ git worktree remove ../myapp__worktrees/fix-login
$ git branch -d fix-login
$ tmux kill-window -t fix-login

With workmux

$ workmux add fix-login -p "Fix the login redirect"
# later
$ workmux merge
  • Files to copy and panes to start come from .workmux.yaml
  • Every agent's status shows in the sidebar and dashboard
  • Repeat for as many tasks as you can keep up with
Quick start →

Product tour

Built for watching many agents at once.

See which agent needs you.

A tmux popup that lists every agent across projects with status, diff size and elapsed time. Preview output and reply without switching windows.

  • Sort by recency or project
  • Live preview of agent output
  • Send input with one key
Read the dashboard guide →

Setup

Ready the moment it opens.

New worktrees are clean checkouts. Copy in what git leaves out, like.env, and let each pane install and start what it runs.

.workmux.yaml

files:
  copy:
    - .env
panes:
  - command: <agent>
    focus: true
  - command: pnpm install && pnpm run dev
    split: horizontal
Configuration →

Sandbox

Unattended agents, contained.

Run agents in a container or Lima VM scoped to the worktree. Host keys, credentials and files stay outside.

Workflows

Start with one agent. Grow into many.

The same tool works for a single task, a subtask spun off from a running agent, or a coordinator that plans and merges a whole refactor.

01Command

Solo

One command creates a branch, worktree, and starts an agent with your prompt in a new window.

$ workmux add -A -p "Add cursor-based pagination to /api/users"workmux add reference →

02Skill

Delegated

From inside an agent, spin off a subtask to a new worktree with full context.

❯ /worktree Implement the caching layerThe /worktree skill →

03Skill

Coordinated

One agent spawns, monitors, and merges multiple worktree agents.

❯ /coordinator Break down the auth refactor into parallel tasksThe /coordinator skill →

Skills for your agent

Let agents commit, merge, rebase and delegate for you. Works with any coding agent that supports skills.

workmux setup --skills

  • I have to mention workmux at every opportunity because it's the perfect glue between worktrees, agents and tmux windows.

    @dedbrizz
  • Since I discovered workmux I'm cooking. Amazing parallel-agent driver if you like tmux and want to keep your config.

    @MatijaSosic
  • Thank you so much for your work with workmux! It's a tool I've been wanting to exist for a long time.

    @rstacruz
  • I've been using (and loving) workmux which brings together tmux, git worktrees, and CLI agents into an opinionated workflow.
